The work done by the Community Service Committee is the
public face of Rotary in our local community, aiming to help local needs by
providing practical and financial help to both groups and individuals. Many and varied are the projects that Rutherglen members
support and get involved with. Here are some of the projects that we are
currently involved in, ¨ Organising our annual Christmas Raffle for various charities. - Last year the proceeds were donated to the Maggies Centre. This will be our charity again for this year. ¨ Organising Fun Events for Charities - A Race Night to raise funds for Charities. ¨ Cartland Bridge Outing – An annual outing for the elderly for high tea and entertainment at the Cartland Bridge Hotel, Lanark. ¨
Holidays for the less privileged – For over 25 years the Club
has organised these weeklong holidays now provided in our flat in Largs.
¨ Landemar Day- We intend again supporting this major event in the Royal Burgh of Rutherglen's calendar by repeating our fund raising efforts by having a Book Sale stall. ¨
Grass cutting at the local Abbeyfield house. This ongoing activity
involves usually three members of our Club cutting the grass at our local
Abbeyfield house every Thursday evening weather permitting. |
